FIVE easy mistakes not to make whilst wedding planning that you want to know about.

In today's blog post here are 5 easy mistakes made whilst wedding planning that you want to know about, and make sure you don't make them either. So grab a cuppa and take some notes as at some point everyone before you and after you will make at least one of them.

Mistake 1: Your wedding day timeline will determine whether you are stressed or relaxed.

Forgetting to leave lots of time between your important parts of your day, like between your ceremony and reception. When it comes to planning a wedding - everything takes longer than you think. Even if you have your ceremony and reception at the same location. It can also look daunting when you leave too much of a gap and it feels like you will end up twiddling thumbs during your wedding breakfast or if you leave just enough time for the drive between the church and the reception hall, this could be a disaster.

Mistake 2: Asking your friends and family to help on your wedding day (that aren't professionals of course).

If you have decided to task yourself the job of putting together your wedding day timeline, a bigger mistake you could make is expecting amateurs and hobbyists to deliver professional help at your wedding. They will miss some of those important moments that you had highlighted to them over and over again. Your friend won't know what to do when something goes wrong, which usually means that things will get worse and results in panic. If you like your friends and family...and you’d like to keep it that way...don’t hire them for your wedding day. If less than perfect performance is going to make you unhappy, don’t do it.

Mistake 3: Planning “extra activities” the week of the wedding.

When you’re planning a wedding, your to-do list seems to grow by the minute. Don’t plan anything, and I mean anything, to do that last week. Try to schedule all of your final tasks at least two weeks prior to your wedding. Believe me, you’ll have plenty to do the week before! And your professional wedding planner can handle the rest.

Mistake 4: Trying to please everyone and not focusing on what you and your fiance want.

Every wedding planning resource seems to know the “right way” to plan a wedding. And you will most likely have family and friends who are more than happy to tell you what they would do if they were you. Well, they aren't, only you are you and you know what is right for you, even if you do not know what you want yet. But trying to make everyone happy is exhausting...and it’s an effort that’s doomed to fail (trust me). If something is really important to you, stick to your guns. You won’t make everyone happy anyway. So, make sure you make yourself happy.

Mistake 5: If you haven't got an on the day coordinator to help you estimate these timings.

Easy mistake, and very often overlooked as most times your venue coordinator may promise you will be looked after. But you will only be looked after once inside your reception venue and not beforehand. If you know you want to be relaxed and not worry about any of your suppliers not arriving in the right location or one of your wedding party forgets your shoes, you will be stressed and miserable on a day you’ll never get a do-over on. This is because you will know your wedding day timeline minute by minute and all you will be thinking about is those minutes passing by. So, do yourself a favour and pass on all of your important notes and just enjoy yourself and let your on the day coordinator handle it for you.

If you’ve already made some of these mistakes, don’t stress! Now that you know, you can fix them and book a free consultation to get back on track here. Being prepared is the best way to avoid a wedding day disaster.

This next blog post is great, if you think you don't need a professional wedding planner yet to help you.
